The impeccable beaches of South Wales have fallen to praise once again, with Pembrokeshire boasting 12 stretches of sands that have earned the prestigious blue flag status.

The blue flag award system is governed by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE), putting beaches around the country under stringent testing on categories such as water quality, environmental management, facilities.

Pembrokeshire saw 12 beaches earn the coveted accolade, with the region obtaining the most of any other across not just Wales, but the whole of the British Isles.

Business Minister Edwina Hart expressed delight on the development, saying the news could only further cement Wales' status as a popular holiday destination. He said: “This is obviously good news for the tourism industry and sends out a very positive message to visitors that Wales has an abundance of superb safe beaches, seaside resorts and marinas for all to enjoy".

With such sumptuous sands across the region, its no wonder a stay in one of the beautiful Pembrokeshire cottages continues to be a growing trend for tourists during the summer months.
