Pembrokeshire County Council has shown its full support in assisting Saundersfoot Harbour in its bid to become a Marine Centre of Excellence, it has been announced.

A measure which could see a significant increase in both conventional and marine tourism to the harbour, it has always been regarded as a hotspot for wildlife, and only last week visitors could admire a breathtaking display from a pod of playful dolphins.

Amongst the plans to help rebrand the area into a marine tourism hotspot include the installation of an outer-harbour slipway and new deep-water moorings, as well as onshore facilities such as chandlery and boat repair service; it is hoped that the raft of services could offer a great new reason for families to visit the region on theirĀ cottage holidays to Pembrokeshire.

In terms of the timescale of the project, the Chairman of Saundersfoot Harbour Commissioners said that they hope to have updates of their services online by 2014, with the additional facilities able to be enjoyed by the public in time for the summer season of 2016.
