Pembrokeshire has been recognised for its extreme sports, as a small local company has been named as offering the Best Visitor Experience in Wales by the National Tourism Awards for Wales. The accolade comes as no small feat considering Wales’ and Pembrokeshire’s great number of popular visitor attractions, but the Coasteering company Celtic Quest Coasteering beat hundreds of rivals to the top spot.

Celtic Quest Coasteering picked up another award at the event staged by Visit Wales, and marked the only business to manage to do so that evening. The extreme sports company was recognised for its dedication to the use of online marketing and social media in the presentation of the Technology in Tourism award. Visitors and families staying in the area on local Pembrokeshire cottage holidays have been lucky enough to experience the hard work of the Coasteering business since the company was set up in 2009, and its popularity continues to grow, with the site now seeing up to 100 visitors a day during the summer months.

Owner and senior guide at Celtic Quest Coasteering, Cleo Brown, is immensely proud of the achievement and hopes that it will “further raise the profile of our brand and the adventure activity sector within Wales and particularly the Pembrokeshire Coast”. And an active coast it is, as from north to south, Pembrokeshire is renowned for its water sports and outdoor activities, with visitors to Tenby cottages having enjoyed waterskiing and coastal walks for years.

With the awards set up in association with the Wales Tourism Alliance to recognise the best in Welsh tourism, Celtic Quest Coasteering have received one of the sector's top acclaims and are set to carry on attracting families and adrenaline junkies to the picturesque Pembrokeshire coast. A preview of what the team get up to on their activity days can be seen on YouTube, while tickets can booked via their website, celticquestcoasteering.com.
