2013 is being celebrated as a fantastic year for holidays in Wales, with recent figures showing a considerable rise in visitor numbers and overall spend.

Heralded as great news for the Welsh tourism industry by the Economy Minister Edwina Hart, results from the Great Britain Tourism Survey revealed that visitors to Wales from other parts of the UK increased by eight per cent compared to 2012, outlining the incredible popularity of cottage holidays in Saundersfoot, Tenby and other areas of the country.

The figures show that a staggering 8.04 million such visits to Wales were made during the first nine months of 2013, which is up by 7.8 per cent from 2012.

With unspoiled countryside vistas, beautiful beaches and coastal villages filled with character and charm, it’s easy to see why Wales is proving increasingly appealing as a staycation destination. If you are stuck where to base your 2014 getaway, why not head to Wales to see what all the fuss is about?
