With the start of February, Tenby shows that the seaside town is an old romantic at heart with a range of events including live opera and acoustic music. So, if you are heading to Pembrokeshire this Valentine’s Day, have a read of this guide to the best events on offer in the Welsh county this month.

Alex Horne - Lies

Not your typical Cambridge graduate, Alex Horne is a multi BAFTA award-winning stand-up comic and writer who puts on a performance to both enthral and keep you in stitches from start to finish. Thursday 13th February will see the comic head to Milford Haven’s very own Torch Theatre as he puts on his latest act which sees him drop his famed use of Microsoft PowerPoint to convey his humorous antics and instead puts on a performance of observations, jokes and lies. Starting at 8pm, with tickets priced at just £12, Horne’s ‘beguiling blend of the smart and the stupid. . . a real delight’, as put by The Sunday Times, makes for a great night out before Valentine’s Day.

Soup & Pudding Event

Those staying in self-catering Tenby cottages on the 22nd February will want to get themselves down to Jameston Town Hall for the Soup & Pudding Event that is raising money for the worthy cause of Shalom House. The event will see countless homemade puddings and soups available for just £5, with all money raised to be matched by Barclays Bank. For a tasty treat on holiday, make sure you’re there between 11.30am and 1.30pm.

Benjamin Britten’s Peter Grimes

For an injection of culture into your Pembrokeshire cottage getaways, get to the Torch Theatre, as a rendition of Benjamin Britten’s famed opera Peter Grimes will be gracing the stage. The 23rd February at 3pm will see the curtains open to what has to be one of the most appropriate operas for the Pembrokeshire coastline, as Peter Grimes tells the narrative of a fisherman’s tragic breakdown.
