Ahead of the hotly anticipated annual Queen’s Baton Relay, Pembrokeshire have announced their young runners that have been bestowed with the honour of carrying the baton during the Pembrokeshire leg of the route. Covering 70 nations and some 190,000 km, the Queen’s Baton Relay is a fantastic tradition taking place ahead of the 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games.
Local residents and visitors in Pembrokeshire holiday cottages by the sea in St Davids will get the chance to see the great event on the 28th May as it begins the Pembrokeshire leg of its journey in the coastal city.
Alongside a number of Pembrokeshire teenagers that have been bestowed with the baton honour, several sports stars have been announced this week to carry the baton for Wales, including double Commonwealth gold medallist Kirsty Wade, London 2012 Paralympic gold medallist Aled Davies and Wales Rugby Sevens and Scarlets star, Lee Williams.
