Pembrokeshire’s Folly Farm has been named one of the top zoos in Europe and the UK in a list of reviews on travel website TripAdvisor. The list of reviews took into account the recommendations of travellers around the globe and, following the introduction of a new pride of lions at Folly Farm, the zoo has secured a high rank on both the European and UK list of top zoos.

While the UK saw more zoos in the top 25 list of zoos in Europe than any other country, Folly Farm did particularly well in the rankings, securing 13th place. For many regular visitors of coastal cottages in Pembrokeshire this may come as no surprise as Folly Farm has been a hugely popular attraction in Wales for many years, but with the lion pride marking the completion of a £500,000 project for the zoo, more good things are expected to come yet.

“A record breaking season”

Enjoying “a record breaking season” last year following the launch of Penguin Coast, Tim Morphew, the zoo manager, said in this article, “We endeavour to continue to provide our visitors with the best experience possible.”

Of the rankings, TripAdvisor spokesman James Kay said that they offered great inspiration for families looking for a great day out in the UK, saying “These awards are based on the millions of reviews and opinions written by our global community of travellers” and “So if you’re looking for some inspiration for a great family day out, the UK winners are a great addition to your summer holidays hit list.”

In the UK list, Begelly’s Folly Farm, close to popular Tenby self-catering holiday cottages, secured an impressive fourth place just behind that of Chester Zoo in Cheshire, Essex’s Colchester Zoo and Paignton Zoo in Devon.
