As a popular summer destination, Pembrokeshire knows how to cater for a diverse audience. From family days out to romantic jazz, there really is something for everyone this August. Here is a sample of the highlights you can enjoy during a stay in cottages on the Pembrokeshire coast this summer.

Dragon Days

First up, what could be more magical during a family summer holiday than the experience of handling dragons? At Pembroke Castle on the 14th and 21st August, children of all ages will be able to do just that with the castle’s Dragon Days. With storytelling, a parade and a Dragon Hunt Challenge, the little ones won’t be wanting to leave! Just a short drive from nearby seaside Tenby cottages, it makes for a great day out for all the family. Tickets can be purchased in advance here.

Pembrokeshire County Show

August in Pembrokeshire can only mean one thing – that the Pembrokeshire County Show is back. Between the 19th and 21st August, visitors and locals alike will be coming out to the County Showground to experience the largest three-day county show in Wales. With competitions, entertainment, displays and stalls all to enjoy, it is no wonder that it attracts some 75,000 visitors every year. Just see the pembsshow.org website for further details on the extensive show programme.

Aberjazz

Finally, for the music lovers amongst you, the famed Aberjazz festival will be returning to Fishguard for its 11th year. Taking place at various venues across the town between the 21st and 25th August, there will be some fantastic jazz and blues performances in some great intimate settings. While at some events there is a small admittance charge, many of the performances in this festival series are completely free or bucketed, where the festival is run by a community group of volunteers who will only be asking for donations.
