One of the most appealing aspects of booking into one of our holiday cottages in Pembrokeshire is that many of them are dog friendly. It means that while you won’t have to worry about finding a dog sitter, more importantly they can be a part of your holiday and provide long-lasting memories.

While many of our Pembrokeshire holiday cottages will allow you to take your pooch along, it’s important to plan your holiday to really help you make the most of your cottage getaway in Saundersfoot, Tenby or other delightful region. Dog Friendly Attractions

Attractions prove such a big aspect of the modern staycation, particularly if the notoriously unpredictable British weather decides to bring rain over sunshine. While you may think you are limited to just a few establishments in the region, in fact there are many which allow entry for dogs, albeit with some limits. 

Among the best attractions waiting to be discovered is Heatherton World of Activities, a fantastic family attraction which provides fun for all ages.  After we got in touch with them, here’s what they had to say on their dog-friendly policy:

“There is no need to sort out dog kennels or worry about leaving the dog in the car this year, Heatherton has that in hand with its Dog-Friendly policy.

Heatherton World of Activities is a large Sport & Leisure attraction offering a mixture of Family-Fun and Kids Adventure activities, with a Free Admission and Dog Friendly policy. The park is conveniently located on the outskirts of Tenby in Pembrokeshire, offering over 25 fun and exciting attractions all at one site, ranging from Archery, pistols and Go-karts to Paintball, High Ropes and Zorbing.”

Picton Castle

Another is Picton Castle, an attraction which is often renowned as Pembrokeshire’s finest stately home. Set in the heart of beautiful landscape, the castle is surrounded by 40 acres of picturesque pastures and offers a great mode of relaxation. Despite its reputation of wealth and grandeur, those who manage the attraction are more than happy for dogs to come along for the day; all they ask is for owners to pick up after their dog and help keep the grounds clean. When we got in contact with them, here’s what they had to say about bringing your pooch: “Dogs on leads are more than welcome to accompany visitors within the Gardens - with the 40 acres providing more than ample scope for them to get plenty of exercise! All we ask is for you to bring along a 'poopy bag' - or ask at our shop!”

Dog Friendly Pubs

With so many attractions to see and do, it’s likely that you will develop quite the appetite after a whole day of exploring. Fortunately for you, there are plenty of pubs and restaurants which will welcome the whole family with open arms – as well as the dog which can so often prove a problem. So that you won’t have to spend time researching, here are just some of the best.

The Carew Inn

With great food being served all day, plus a fine family-friendly atmosphere, The Carew Inn offers everything you could hope for from a country pub. As if this wasn’t enough, dogs are also allowed in the bar and outside seating area. Nestled onto the banks of the Carew River, the pub offers stunning views across to Carew Castle, a stronghold which has stood since 1270.

The Stackpole Inn

The quaint village of Stackpole is among the most popular attractions for all Pembrokeshire holidaymakers, with the stunning views in particular making it a real highlight on any trip to the region. It is also known for the Stackpole Inn, a public house situated within the boundaries Pembrokeshire Coast National Park that combines a great menu with a warming welcome. If you happen to be visiting the region, be sure to come along as dogs are allowed in the bar.
