Those on Pembrokeshire cottage holidays in December have plenty of opportunities to get involved with the festivities, and can also enjoy the added benefits of returning to a cosy base after a busy day exploring.

Narberth Winter Carnival

On Saturday 6th December, the pretty market town of Narberth will be getting merry with a jam-packed day of wintery events. The main spectacle will be the winter parade, which takes place at 6pm and includes a procession of magnificent floats. There will also be plenty of Christmas cheer, with an authentic market and opportunities for children to visit Santa’s Grotto. Those in need of some final Christmas gifts for family and friends will also be able to hunt for presents during the late night shopping, which includes festive music on the High Street from BBC’s ‘The Voice’ star, Ragsy.

Castle by Candlelight

The beautiful Manorbier Castle near Tenby will be hosting an evening of magical performances in order to raise money for the preservation of Pembrokeshire’s coastline. The atmospheric castle will host the Haverfordwest Male Voice Choir by candlelight, and those attending can enjoy mulled wine and mince pies during the concert, which takes place on 11th December.

Saundersfoot New Year’s Day Swim

Although this takes place on January 1st, those staying in Pembrokeshire holiday cottages during the Christmas period will want to spectate at the Saundersfoot New Year’s Day Swim, which last year saw X Factor’s Jay James make an appearance. The exciting event takes place at 12.30pm and will see hundreds of brave fundraisers jump into the chilly waters of Saundersfoot beach. This year’s fancy dress theme will be World War 1, as decided by a public vote, in order to commemorate the 100 years since the war began in 1914.
