The first ever Haverfoodfest food festival has been hailed a huge success after attracting some 4,000 visitors.

Close to popular coastal cottages of Tenby and Saundersfoot, the event attracted many visitors from outside of Wales as well as numerous locals. The event saw close to 50 stalls offering produce from Pembrokeshire and beyond, as well as culinary displays from celebrity chefs.

“It brings people to the town”

In speaking of the event, local resident Marty Greaves said in this article, “Haverfordwest needs more things like this,” with her sister Sophie commenting, “It brings people to the town”. It is hoped that the event will become an annual occurrence with even more stalls, as two-thirds of stallholders ran out of produce this year as early as 3pm.

Among the attractions at the festival were culinary tips from celebrity chef Angela Gray, who has worked with top chefs from across the UK in her career and has been travelling on the food festival circuit for some time as a patron of Narberth Food Festival. As a teacher of cookery at her school at Llanerch Vineyard, she was a must see for everyone in attendance at Haverfoodfest.

Live music was also a huge part of the festival, with a jam-packed schedule of local artists including BBC One’s The Voice UK’s Ragsy.

Having reported on the festival in this previous article, it is reassuring to think that this could be the start of a long and successful run for the new festival and draw even more people to Pembrokeshire in the coming years.

The festival has been a huge hit with visitors, locals and local businesspeople, who were ‘overwhelmed’ by its success. It is hoped that the success of this year will see the event take place again next year, and perhaps even extended to two days of festivities.
