Pembrokeshire attraction to get penguin pool

One of the favourite attractions visited by those staying in Pembrokeshire cottages will soon be even better after plans for building a home for penguins were approved. Folly Farm is visited by kids and grown ups alike for a fun day out with animals in South Wales, and now the animal family is increasing with the addition of penguins. The proposal for a £500,000 penguin pool was approved by Pembrokeshire County Council this week.

Ironman Wales is a Great Success

This past Sunday saw crowds of athletes flock to Tenby’s North Bay to compete in one of the UK’s hardest sporting events. The beach was packed with over 1,300 athletes from around 40 countries taking place. As you would expect with an event of this size, the competition drew in thousands of spectators to the area, some of which were visiting during Pembrokeshire cottage holidays.

Restoration of historic Tenby fountain completed

A landmark in Tenby was restored to its former glory last weekend, after being kept in storage for the last 21 years. The Dyster Memorial Fountain had stood in the centre of Tudor Square for over a century, and back when it was first erected it was very important as a drinking water provider for the public and for horses. With the arrival of the automobile however, the fountain became a bit troublesome due to its location in the middle of the square, and was unfortunately damaged by a lorry in 1991.

Red Bull World Series Cliff Diving Comes to Pembrokeshire's Blue Lagoon

The Pembrokeshire coastline near Abereiddy will see the only UK venue to hold the forthcoming Red Bull World Series Cliff Diving competition on September 7 - 8. This is the long awaited debut for Wales to hold this prestigious cliff diving event. The event will take place in Pembrokeshire's Blue Lagoon, close to St David's, located within the beautiful Pembrokeshire Coast National Park. Competitors will be diving from a cliff height of 27 metres into the Irish Sea.

The run by itself is approximately the distance of a marathon, so the scale of this challenge is huge.

Pembrokeshire obtains twelve blue flag beaches

The impeccable beaches of South Wales have fallen to praise once again, with Pembrokeshire boasting 12 stretches of sands that have earned the prestigious blue flag status.The blue flag award system is governed by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE), putting beaches around the country under stringent testing on categories such as water quality, environmental management, facilities.Pembrokeshire saw 12 beaches earn the coveted accolade, with the region obtaining the most of any other across not just Wales, but the whole of the British Isles.
