Description

A Self Catering Holiday Cottage in St Davids, West Wales. Ty Blawd holiday cottage is located on a working family farm. A short walk across the farmer's land will take you to the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path that runs along the rugged high cliffed coast of the northern edge of the beautiful St Davids peninsula. Ty Blawd holiday cottage (translates as the corn meal house) was converted in 2008 and is also close to the Blue Flag rated Whitesands beach..

Ground Floor

The kitchen has good quality fitted units and is equipped with gas four burner hob with extractor fan above, electric oven, microwave, electric kettle, toaster, automatic clothes washer/dryer, fridge-freezer, iron and ironing board. There is ample crockery, cutlery and glassware plus pots and pans and kitchen tools. The table seats four comfortably.

Two steps lead to the living area. Furnished with a sofa and two armchairs, the living room has TV with Free-View and DVD player. There is also a CD player/radio, a selection of books and games.

Upper Ground Floor

Three steps lead up to the Bathroom – with tiled floor and walls. Bath with pressurised shower over, W.C, wash-hand basin and extractor fan.

Cosy double bedroom.

Upstairs

Beautiful twin bedroom with exposed beams.

Garden

The cottage boasts a private outdoor area. Guests are welcome to walk through the farm's land to join the path, just three fields away.

Ty Blawd adjoins Ysgubor cottage and both can be booked to accommodate up to 8 people.

Cottage is approached by farm track. This is fine for general cars but not suitable for low sports cars.

Location

Ty Blawd is one of a pair of adjoining cottages is set on a working farm 2 miles to the North of St Davids, Britain's smallest city. The farm stretches down to the famous Pembrokeshire coastal path, and numerous cycle routes run nearby. St Davids is a beautiful and unique city surrounded by some of the finest coastline in Europe. Granted city status by Queen Elizabeth II because of the presence of the cathedral St Davids is in reality a small beautiful village. Situated within the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park St Davids is surrounded by spectacular coastal scenery renowned for its beauty and abundance of wildlife. Many people have fallen to the charm of St Davids including former New Zealand rugby Coach Graham Henry who lists St Davids as his favourite place in the World.

Ramsey Island is home to large colonies of razor-bills, kittiwakes, fulmers, chough, guilliemot, raven, peregrine and puffin. Managed by the RSPB the island is separated from the Pembrokeshire coast by the infamous Ramsey Sound. With each tide the waters surge through the sound making it a firm favourite with the seals, dolphins and porpoise. Local sightseeing trips can be booked to view these wonderful creatures.

Walking

Just a short walk from the cottage, across the farmer's land, is the beautiful Pembrokeshire Coastal Path. 0.5 miles

Beaches

Whitesands - The blue-flagged Whitesands Bay is a popular family beach because of its safe swimming and clean white sand. It is also regarded as one of Wales’ top surf-spots. 2 miles

Caerfai Bay – Caerfai is a lovely sandy beach perfect for families. Its position provides shelter from the prevailing winds. 2.8 miles

Newgale - It's a magnificent two mile long stretch of wide flat sand with a huge pebble bank behind it. Powerful swells roll in here at all times of the year. 9.2 miles

Caerbwdi Beach – Beautiful rocky beach perfect for snorkelling. The rocks here are red sandstone and it is from here that the rock was quarried for St Davids Cathedral. 3.1

Fishing

For sea fishing, only a short walk from the cottage there are many coves and rocky marks that provide superb Sea fishing, including some of the best Bass fishing in the UK. 0.4 miles.

Cycling

National Cycle Route 4 (or NCR 4) is only a short distance form the cottage and actually runs from London to Fishguard. Mainly on quiet country roads. 0.3 miles.

For off road cycling Llys-Y-Fran is a large country park just outside Haverfordwest. 27 miles

Water Sports

TYF Adventure includes canoeing, kayaking, coastering and much more. 2.4 miles

Golf

Only 2 miles from the cottage St David's City is one of three distinctive nine-hole gems that exist along the twenty-mile stretch of the North Pembrokeshire coast. 2.2 miles
