Autumn is a lovely time of year in Pembrokeshire. The Summer crowds have all but disappeared making the beautiful sandy beaches ideal to take laid back leisurely strolls. The coastal footpaths that hug the coastline starts to change in colour and the wildlife are all preparing ahead of the long winter. It’s a great time to book a cottage for a week or a short stay, maybe with an open fire or log burner to sit and relax in front of after a day’s adventure.
There are lots of attractions within the county to keep you entertained. If you are a keen golfer, then Tenby has two golf courses one 18-hole links style course overlooking the South Beach with stunning sea views and at Trefloyne Golf Course just outside of Tenby. This has a lovely restaurant in which to enjoy a great meal after a challenging round of golf.
If you enjoy history and culture then Pembrokeshire is jam packed full of castles, historical sites and gardens to explore. Pembroke Castle the birth place of Henry VII has guided tours, exhibitions and events throughout the year with the castle cafe to have a bite to eat and a refreshing drink.
Plan an excursion to the Cwm Deri Vineyard which not only produces wines but also liqueurs, cheeses, preserves and cakes, it was opened its doors to the public in 1992. So take a walk around the vines and see the animals and then stop by for lunch in the conservatory restaurant - please contact beforehand for a table!
If you have small children then Folly Farm is open up to the end of October and then weekends through November to mid-December, it has a large collection of animals from Lions, monkeys, camels and penguins to farmyard favorites. There is an indoor play area and a Victorian fair which can provide hours of fun. Manor Wildlife Park is open 365 days a year there are lots of animals to see around the park and also domes in which to escape from the weather if it should happen to rain!
