Holiday property information

  • Accommodation

All our property owners are advised of our standards of cleanliness, furniture and equipment and each property is inspected by our Property Managers at least once a year. Properties are thoroughly cleaned at each changeover.

  • Every cottage contains

At least one Colour TV unless otherwise stated and sufficient furnishings and equipment for a self-catering holiday. Items such as fridge, cooking utensils, duvets or blankets and pillows will always be included to support the comfort of the persons for which it is intended, as shown in the brochure. Utensils are supplied for all normal needs and lawned gardens are maintained where applicable.

  • Electricity and/or gas

In many instances electricity and/or gas is included in the rental and ONLY chargeable if specifically mentioned in the property details within the property description.

  • Central heating

Where mentioned in the property details, is available from the beginning of October to the middle of May. A gas and/or electric fire is provided for the rest of the year.

  • Linen

Most properties are equipped with bed linen; sheets and pillowcases. Where this facility is available it is stated in the property description.

As a general rule towels of any description are not provided and you should bring your own supply with you.

No sleeping bags allowed. Linen and blankets for cots are not supplied and should be brought by visitors.

  • Cots

If a property supplies a cot it will be noted in the individual property details. Cots are included in the rental cost unless stated otherwise. Please bring your own cot linen.

  • Heating & bed linen charges

Where provided by the owner as a chargeable service, must be paid direct to the owner or their representative on arrival. (Unless otherwise stated.)

  • Pets

In response to demand, many property owners allow visitors to bring their pets. These properties are clearly identified in the brochure details. Where they are allowed there is an extra charge of £25 per week or short break. In making this service available we are relying on you to respond by keeping your pet under strict control at all times. Please bring your own pet basket and do not allow your pet on the furniture or beds. A pet must not be left unattended in the hired property at any time. Failure to adhere to these conditions may result in you being asked to vacate the property. Hirers will be liable for any damage caused by pets. Allergy sufferers should check prior to booking, as owners may have their own pets in the properties.

  • Property description & location

We have endeavoured to describe and detail each property, its facilities and surroundings as accurately as possible. All distances quoted are approximate. Within the limited space, we have provided as much information as possible but should you require additional information please do not hesitate to contact us. Unless otherwise stated, all holidays start and finish on a Saturday. Please note that holiday resorts can be noisy at times.

  • Country stone cottages

Many of our delightful properties are over 100 years old, and built before the days of damp-proof courses, insulation, easy stair gradients and will, on occasion, have reduced height doorways and beams etc. Although we inspect our properties very carefully, it is natural and understandable that these properties may occasionally be prone to humidity effect. Another contributing factor is the warm, moist Cornish and Welsh climate which can sometimes cause condensation. Ventilation, by leaving some windows open can help alleviate this problem. We would advise against bringing elderly or asthmatic people to these older “character” type properties especially out of season. Countryside activity and animals can be noisy and smelly at times. If you are used to town living - be warned!

  • Special requirements/assistance dogs

Powells Cottage Holidays are not a specialist provider of holidays for the disabled, but we are committed to making all properties as inclusive as possible for all of our guests. Please discuss any special requirements (such as access statements) with our sales team at the time of booking. This will ensure that we can provide the most suitable property and make your holiday as enjoyable as possible. Under the Equality Act it requires property owners who operate a ‘no dogs’ policy to waive this policy where assistance dogs are concerned.
